Boorish Behavior At Marlins Game

On Sunday the Marlins hosted the final game of the series against the Mets.  Johan vs. Josh Johnson.  How can you possibly have a bad game?  A couple of Guest Writers (Spike and The Deli) and another friend of ours joined and we all went to the game.  How could we not?  With arguably the best pitcher in the game going for the Mets and a potential All Star and stud pitcher in Josh's Johnson, we HAD to go. Both pitchers pitched a gem and the Marlins won a nail biter to say the least. Nevermind the game. Around the 6th or 7th inning, a couple of rowdy Marlins fans in front of us got in a little verbal argument with a Mets fan as she was leaving the row to go somewhere. Spike, Deli, Lerndawg and I personally heard the entire argument, word for word as it happened literally two rows ahead of us with no one sitting between us.  Something about "YOU DON'T SAY THOSE WORDS WITH CHILDREN AROUND".  She stormed out of the seats and summoned security.  Here is the article from the Sun Sentinel regarding her story (click here for video):

Received an email today from a female Mets fan who had a miserable experience on Sunday at the Mets-Marlins game. I'll print it in full below. Let me know what you think of it and if you have any similar nightmare stories of outlandish behavior at a baseball game.

You almost expect it at an NFL game, where five-hour tailgates leave too many fans wasted before kickoff. But baseball is supposed to be a different experience, one where you actually can bring your family to a game without having your children learn new curse words or be traumatized by angry exchanges directed at their parents.
"After spending a morning at church with two generations of
my family, my husband and I thought that an afternoon at
the Stadium with my daughter and niece would be a nice
family event on such a beautiful day.

The Stadium calls it “Family Day” trying to fill the seats to
See the Marlins perform.  The experience was nothing
Like what I consider a Family Day.  Sitting in seats where
People are allowed to shout out profanities in English and
Spanish, competing who can shout  louder than the
Other.  This behavior is what I experienced in Section 130
Today.  Most of the bad words were in Spanish, not my
First language nor that of my child, I ignored it.  But when
Myself, my child (13 year old girl), niece (14 year old girl) got
up out of our seats to go to the restroom and passed the group
Who had been shouting the profanities in Spanish through
Out the game – They leashed their profanities on us three
Wearing Mets gear shouting ” METS S--K BIG ---- ” !
Right in the face of these young children.  I held myself
Back from smacking the guys face and told him he should
Not speak that way in front of young children and his
Response was go back to NY.  Obviously, this guy was
Brought up on the streets and didn’t have parents to
Teach him appropriate behavior, or the Stadium just
Sold him too many beers.

Nevertheless, this behavior should not be permitted
And there should be major consequences for this
Type of behavior.

Its not like I am going out to a Bar or hanging out in
The Hood – I am at a Ball Game, an all American Family
Sport.

The blood boiled, and I continued outside to search
For Security.  I got two little ole ladies close to 70 years
Of age coming to my aid.  I didn’t think anything would
Be resolved by them.  So I asked them where the Police
Were and a minute or two later Four Police Officers came
By and I was still upset, talking loud clearly expressing
My disgust about what just happened!  I was not cursing,
I was not using profanity, I was not threatening anyone,
I was just beside myself with how this guy talked to three
Females, two of which were young kids!!!  One Police
Officer responded to me with “Mam, this is a Stadium,
A Baseball Stadium and they sell Beer here”…  Dah!
That was a female officer, imagine that.  I wonder what
She teaches her children…  I don’t even know how this
lady got a badge, but I know there is good and bad in every
industry.  Well, that comment sure didn’t make me realize
that I shouldn’t get offended by the behavior of these
group of people toward my children…  Then the male
officer asked me what happened, I explained, I whispered
in his ear what was said – not to repeat such vulgarity out
loud for the respect of other people that were earshot
distance.  He then asked me where they were and I
went into the stadium and pointed to the group saying
“ There  is the degenerate “.  The male Officer now
Started threatening me because I called the man
Degenerate – Meanwhile, the guy came out saying,
Yes, I am the degenerate!  I had to try and listen to the
Male officer talk to me in a very demeaning fashion,
Threatening me that he was going to have me escorted
Out of the building, and arrest me.  I found it extremely
“Comical”.  Here we have Miami-Dade Officers acting
Like degenerates.  I guess the female officer was right…
This was a Stadium, a baseball stadium.  Obviously
A place where degenerates roam.  I wish I would have
Known that before hand, I wouldn’t have been any
Where near a place like this, never mind taking children
To.

The experience went on ---  He threatened to arrest me.
I told him if he thinks he has a right, go right ahead.  Of
Course he didn’t, what was I violating?  On the contrary,
He was violating my rights and not protecting the best
Interest of my children to say the least…  I wonder what
oath he took???  Was it to consume donuts, Or was it peanuts
because we were at a Stadium you know…

They were shouting in front of my children, you are being
Escorted out of the stadium, they took my husbands
Information and made him leave with the children.

YOU GO GUYS!  Go Miami-Dade Police, GO Miami-Dade Police,
You Go, You Go, You Go!!!  Yeahhhhh, another example of
Bad Police Work…  Setting an example in front of my girls –
That Guys can talk out to them with profanity against
Minors and you get upset, looking for assistance and you
Get ridiculed and escorted out of the stadium…

Great Police Work….

No respect here for that type of work…

I can’t wait till the next family day at the Stadium, maybe
Some guy will p--- on my shirt.   I won’t get Mad then,
Because now I have been informed “This is a Stadium,
A Baseball Stadium, and they sell beer here”.

And furthermore- since we were sitting behind her- I took video as she brought the cop out to check out the situation.  I apologize for the video being so shotty, but its the best I could do.

Click here for the video...it's very small and I promise you won't get a virus...that's what she said. You may need QuickTime to watch it.  I am not sure though.  Its a free download here.

The lady doesn't know this, but when the "degenerate" came back to his seat, he had a warning given to him.  He held up the warning for everyone to see and he said "I GOT A WARNING FOR SAYING COCK!  I GOT A WARNING FOR SAYING COCK!"  Ohhh I can't wait for another Mets Marlins game.
